Managing macOS VDI Plugin Management

Zoom VDI Plugin Management was added to the Mac VDI plugin in release 5.12.6 and uses the same policies for the virtual desktop available for the Windows Zoom VDI Plugin Management.

Prerequisites for managing the macOS VDI Plugin Management

• Account owner or admin privileges
• Your computer or device meets the software requirements for Zoom VDI Plugin Management
• Zoom desktop client
  • macOS: 5.12.6 or higher
    Note: Verify release requirements for each policy as some require a more recent plugin release.
• VDI plugin
  • macOS: 5.12.6 or compatible plugin management package
    Note: Verify release requirements for each policy as some require a more recent plugin release.
• Organizations using Citrix XenDesktop or VMware Horizon server published desktop, or Windows Remote Desktop
• Citrix Workspace, VMWare Horizons, AVD client, or Windows remote desktop client
  Note: Citrix Workspace app from Microsoft store is not supported. Mac support is only available for Citrix and VMware.
• Virtual Channel policies have been configured for Citrix

Virtual channel requirements for the Zoom VDI Plugin Management feature

Zoom VDI Plugin Management uses a virtual channel between the VDI Zoom Meeting client and the Zoom VDI Plugin Management software. Ensure that your computer or device meets the virtual channel requirements/software requirements for the VDI Plugin Management feature.

How to enable and disable Mac Zoom VDI Plugin Management

Enable Mac VDI Plugin Management

A policy must be added to the virtual desktop to enable the Zoom VDI Plugin Management feature. The same policy applies to both Windows and Mac plugins.

Disable Mac VDI Plugin Management

Zoom VDI Plugin Management for the Mac client can be enabled or disabled for a specific device by modifying a configuration file. This configuration file is named ZoomVDIAus_Config and is located at the following path:

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ZoomVDIAus/ZoomVDIAus_Config

The following shows the default ZoomVDIAus_Config configuration entries:

The default value of EnableVDIPluginAutoUpgrade is 1.

Zoom VDI Plugin Management can be disabled on the Mac by changing the value of EnableVDIPluginAutoUpgrade to 0.

All the existing policies available for the Windows VDI Plugin Management are also supported on the Mac, including:

• Managing the VDI plugin version
• Zoom VDI Plugin Management expected behavior and limitations

Note: Forcing an older VDI plugin version through a policy for the Mac is limited, and more information on what is supported will be developed for future updates.
