  • Blocking or warning of unencrypted traffic
    All unencrypted Zoom traffic will be blocked from connecting to meetings or webinars. Other external unencrypted traffic, such as phone dial-in and RTMP streaming, will be allowed, but warn all participants that the meeting is not entirely encrypted due to unencrypted end-points.

      Admins can now restrict their users on ChromeOS to join meetings hosted by specific accounts. This is controlled by the Google Admin console with the SetAccountIDsRestrictedToJoin policy.

      Admins can now disable the ability for participants on ChromeOS to rename themselves before joining a meeting if signed-in via Google or SSO. This is controlled by the Google Admin console with the GoogleLoginRenameDisabled and SSOLoginRenameDisabled policies.
  • Meeting features
    • Support for 100 Breakout Rooms on ChromeOS
      Accounts that have the increased Breakout Room capacity enabled will be able to utilize this feature on ChromeOS as an attendee.

  • AES 256-bit GCM Encryption
    Zoom is upgrading to the AES 256-bit GCM encryption standard, which offers increased protection of your meeting data in transit and resistance against tampering. This version of the Zoom client will support GCM encryption when it is automatically enabled for all accounts on May 30. 
  • Show the connected data center
    Users can see which data center they are connected to by clicking on by clicking on the info icon at the top left of the client window.

    The meeting host will now have a Security icon in their meeting controls, which combines all of Zoom’s existing in-meeting security controls into one place. This includes locking the meeting, enabling Waiting Room, and more. Users can also now enable Waiting Room in a meeting, even if the feature was turned off before the start of the meeting.

  • Internal account members to admit external participants in waiting room setting
    Users can now enable a setting to allow internal account members to admit external participants into a meeting from the waiting room when the host is not present. This setting is available at the account, group, and user level and can be locked at the account or group level. Users must be on the Zoom client version 4.6.2 or later. 
  • Option to Allow Participants to Rename Themselves
    The meeting host can now allow or prevent participants from renaming themselves during a meeting. By default, participants can change their name.

      Once enabled through meeting settings, meeting participants will be notified that their meeting is being recorded and will have the option to consent to being recorded or leave the meeting. The recording consent information will be included in the Active Host report.

      During a presentation, participants can provide non-verbal feedback without interrupting the flow of the presentation. Participants have the ability to raise their hand, signal yes or no, indicate to go faster or slower, and use emojis. The host has the ability clear all non-verbal feedback indicators at any time.

    If you host a meeting from the Chrome client, you can invite attendees by phone or by sending an email. You can also copy the meeting invitation link in order to share it more easily.
  • Enhanced default camera selection
    If your Chrome computer includes multiple cameras, your meeting will use the camera that was last used in the previous meeting.

  • Support for signing into the Zoom app using 3rd party authentication
    In addition to signing into the app using email/password credentials, you can now sign in using the credentials you use for signing into Google or Facebook. If enabled for your organization, you can sign into the app using Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials.
  • Start a meeting after signing into the client
    After signing in, you can now start a meeting directly from the Zoom Chrome OS client. If you have a Personal Meeting ID (PMI), you can start the meeting using that number.

    Hosts using the Chrome client can create Breakout rooms, assign attendees to different rooms, and then start a Breakout room session.     If you host a meeting from the Chrome client and your setting for Waiting room is enabled, participants automatically go to the waiting room when they join the meeting. You see the list of participants in the waiting room, and then selectively allow them to join the meeting.
  • Hosts can place participants on hold
    If you host a meeting from the Chrome client and your setting for Allow host to put attendee on hold is enabled, context menu for managing participants includes Put on hold, which stops video and audio transmission to that participant.
  • Participants can use breakout rooms
    If the meeting host creates breakout rooms, participants using the Chrome client are able to communicate with others while in the breakout room.
