New and enhanced features

  • General features
    • Support for IPv6
    • Joining personal meetings (PMI)
Users can populate their “location” field with their PMI and allow others to join that individual’s personal meeting ID if listed.
    • Spam call indicator
Users can see a spam call notification if one is detected.
    • Enhancements to voice commands
    • Multi-Stream view improvements
Remote meeting attendees will be able to see which camera feeds belong to the same Zoom Room. Zoom Room camera feeds will sort together by default.
    • Archiving error notification
Users will receive an error notification if meeting archiving fails.
  • In-meeting features
    • Immersive view
Recreate the feel of your class or conference room by placing video participants onto a single virtual background. Participants are automatically placed onto provided scenes, but the host can upload their own custom background and adjust the arrangements as needed.
    • Breakout rooms management
Meeting hosts can use the features of breakout rooms with a Zoom Rooms controller or touch screen.
    • Troubleshooting logs for Microsoft Teams meetings
Participants in a Microsoft Teams meeting can send logs to Microsoft.
    • Multi-Stream view (Public Beta)
Zoom Rooms Multi-Stream view displays multiple video feeds from up to three different cameras in a single conference room. This allows the Zoom Room cameras to focus more closely on groups of participants and display these people more clearly to remote attendees.
    • Additional security features
Hosts can hide profile pictures, suspend participant activities and start video for participants.
    • Focus mode
In focus mode, only the host can see participants’ videos or profile pictures when video is off. Participant screen sharing can only be viewed by the host, who can switch between multiple shared screens and allow participants to view others’ shared screens. Administrators can enable Focus mode for use in meetings via the web portal.
    • Virtual background delay
If a user’s virtual background fails to load, a prompt will appear with the option to start the video without it.
    • Additional non-verbal feedback
Attendees can click the coffee cup icon in the reactions menu during a meeting to indicate that they are temporarily away.
  • Management features
    • Customize recording disclaimer
Administrators can customize the text of the recording disclaimer that is displayed to participants.
    • Limit screen sharing for external meetings
Administrators can restrict specific internal participants from screen sharing in a meeting with external participants.
    • Untrusted certificate alert
Administrators will receive alerts for untrusted certificates on their dashboards in the web portal.
    • Remote meeting controller enhancements
The text of the privacy disclaimer that is displayed to administrators when taking control of a meeting has been improved. Breakout room participants will receive a message that the meeting is being controlled by an administrator. All participants will be notified when an administrator stops controlling the meeting.
  • Zoom for Home features
    • Blurred background
Personal Zoom Room users can choose to blur their backgrounds rather than selecting a specific virtual background. This provides added privacy when a branded background is unavailable or unnecessary. This is currently supported on Poly devices, Neat bars, and Facebook portal.

    • Updated Zoom for Government label
    • Zoom Room voice commands (Public Beta)

    • Third party meeting support
Zoom Rooms users can join Fuze meetings.
    • STIR/SHAKEN compliance
STIR/SHAKEN is an industry standard to prevent fraudsters from initiating calls from the numbers they don’t own. As required by FCC, Outbound PSTN calls from Zoom endpoints with Zoom provided US phone numbers will include attestation of the caller ID.
  • In-meeting features
    • Improvements to non-vebal feedback
Users who raise their hand in a meeting will have their feedback more prominently displayed in their participant window on the Zoom Room display.
    • Support for Network Device Interface (NDI)
Video producers can use Network Device Interface (NDI) with Zoom Rooms to create custom visual experiences from individual video streams. Meeting or Webinar video is sent via NDI to the network and, from there, production teams can use NDI enabled applications to modify the video.
    • Panelist and host controls in a webinar
Zoom Rooms that join a webinar as a panelist or a host will be able to view and/or manage attendees.
    • Virtual background enhancements

  • Active Apps Notifier
When someone in a meeting or webinar is utilizing any app that has access to real-time content or personal information during a meeting, participants are given real-time notice of usage. Resolved issues

  • Minor bug fixes

April 25, 2021, version 5.6.3 (3526.0424)

Changes to existing features

  • Management features
    • Dashboard reporting
Administrators will not be able to view the local IP, client version or role of meeting participants from outside their organization.

New and enhanced features

  • General features
    • Enhanced data privacy notices
In-context user education for various features, such as whiteboard, closed captioning, and meeting feedback, informs the user who can see, save, and share the information before they provide it.
  • Management features
    • Additional Network Device Options for Room Controls
Administrators can now leverage link-local IP addressing (169.254.X.X) as well as hostname addressing (shure-mxa-3) on devices in the Room Controls JSON Profile. These changes allow organizations that leverage devices on closed or dynamic networks to forgo expensive routing equipment and reduce labor costs for custom configurations on each device's network settings.  Modern networks (where static addressing is being phased out) can define a hostname rather than a static IP address and prevent downtime during IP space changes across the network.

Resolved issues

Room controls will automatically try to reconnect a Zoom Room device if it loses its connection. Users can tap Retry to manually reconnect if the first automatic attempt fails, and the room controls will also try to reconnect periodically if the first attempt is unsuccessful.

The meeting dashboard will display in-room participants data for past meetings if the "Use supported hardware for real time people count" setting is enabled.
    • Meeting start notification
Meetings without Join Before Host enabled can be joined by participants more quickly. Once the host starts the meeting, participants no longer need to wait 30 seconds.

This functionality can be used along with full companion mode on a client, which will allow users to perform additional meeting controls. Full companion mode can also be used by itself.

Resolved issues

  • Security enhancements

November 15, 2020 version 5.3.0 (3116.1113)

Changes to existing features

  • Passcode and/or Waiting Room requirement
Zoom will now require that all meetings have a Passcode or a Waiting Room enabled for accounts with a single licensed user, Pro accounts with 2 or more licenses, and Business accounts with 10-100 licenses. For Zoom Rooms specifically, this requirement will impact users who reserve rooms on scheduling displays.  Learn More.

New and enhanced features

  • In-meeting features
    • Suspend participant activity
New option in the Security panel to immediately suspend all participant activities, which will mute all video and audio, stop screen sharing, end all breakout rooms, and pause recording. Meeting participants in a Zoom Room can be suspended but meetings hosted from Zoom Rooms do not currently have the option to suspend activity.
    • Support 49 video participants in Gallery view
Each screen in a Zoom room can support up to 49 video participants. For example, two screens would support 98 participants and three screens 147 participants, which is the maximum number supported.

October 26, 2020 version 5.2.2 (3051.1024)

New and enhanced features

  • In-meeting features
    • End-to-end (E2E) encryption  for meetings
End-to-end (E2E) encryption for meetings is now available in technical preview. Account owners and admins can enable end-to-end (E2E) encryption for meetings, providing additional protection when needed. Enabling end-to-end (E2E) encryption for meetings requires all meeting participants to join from the Zoom desktop client, mobile app, or Zoom Rooms. Users will not be able to join by telephone, SIP/H.323 devices, on-premise configurations, or Lync/Skype clients, as these endpoints cannot be encrypted end to end. Zoom web client and third-party clients leveraging the Zoom SDK are also not supported at launch. Enabling this setting also disables the following features: join before host, cloud recording, streaming, live transcription, Breakout Rooms, polling, and meeting reactions. This setting is enabled in the Zoom web portal at the account, group, and user level and can be locked at the account or group level.
