Changes to Existing Features

  • Automatic Meeting Password Entry during Meeting Join
    Zoom Rooms will now automatically detect the meeting password in a calendar invite and enter it when joining.

    • One Click to Join Third Party Meetings
      With one click, Zoom Rooms can now join BlueJeans meetings with an H.323/SIP address.
    • Option to turn on Audio Log
      Users can now start collecting logs when experiencing audio issues. This will allow Zoom support to help troubleshoot audio issues.
    • Unmute confirmation in Zoom Rooms
      When the meeting host unmutes a Zoom Room, the room will receive a notification, requesting user to confirm if they want to unmute or stay muted.

  • Scheduling Display Features
    • Reserve Other Rooms and View Floor Map
      Users can now reserve other rooms from the Scheduling Display. If this feature is enabled, admins can also upload a map of their floor plan to help users find an available room nearby. Contact Zoom Support to have this feature enabled.
  • Management Features
    • Device Profiles
      Admins can create device profiles for different types of meetings. Device profiles can be configured to have specific display settings, cameras, speakers, microphones, and screen layouts. Once created, room profiles can be selected for use via the Zoom Room controller. This feature requires a Mac computer and an iOS or Android controller. 
    • Assign the Same Activation Code
      Admins can now assign the same activation code to a Zoom Room to login to the room with the activation code multiple times or push the code through a device management service. 
    • Change Password on Windows IoT Devices
      Admins can now change the Windows login password on Windows IoT devices using the Zoom Rooms Controller or Zoom Rooms for Touch.
    • Hardware Volume Synchronization
      If a user changes the volume on a device, the volume change will now be synced to the Zoom Room computer and controller.

Changes to Existing Features

  • Make Outbound H.323/SIP Calls without CRC Licenses
    Zoom Rooms can now call out to one H.323 or SIP address without a CRC license. CRC licenses will still need to be available on the meeting host’s account for H.323 or SIP devices to call in to a Zoom meeting.

    • Consent to Being Recorded Confirmation
      Once enabled through meeting settings, meeting participants will be notified that their meeting is being recorded and will have the option to consent to being recorded or leave the meeting. The recording consent information will be included in the Active Host report.
    • One Click to Join Third Party Meetings
      With one click, Zoom Rooms can now join Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business meetings with an H.323/SIP address. This feature requires a Cloud Room Connector license and the service configured on the third-party meeting service (Polycom RealConnect or Pexip). Polycom RealConnect and Pexip are the gateway/third-party interop services currently supported.
    • Option for “Attendees cannot unmute” on Zoom Rooms Controller

      • Autonomous Single App Mode (ASAM)
        Autonomous Single App Mode allows Zoom Rooms to run automatically and stay in the foreground of the device. ASAM requires devices to be enrolled in a Mobile Device Management Device program.
      • Automatic Sign-In
        Automatic sign-in allows the Zoom Rooms app to automatically sign in to Zoom, without requiring an administrator to enter their credentials. This feature requires devices to be enrolled in a Mobile Device Management program.
    • Remove Recurring Meeting from Calendar after Missed Check-Ins
      Account owners and admins can now configure the Zoom Room Calendar to remove an event after a configurable number of missed check-ins.
    • Customize HDMI Label
      Account owners and admins can now add a customized HDMI sharing label on the web, which will display on the Zoom Room controller.
    • Ability to Hide the Contact List
      Admins can now choose to hide the Zoom Rooms contact list from all or select rooms. The setting “Show contact list on controller” is automatically enabled and can be disabled at an account, location, floor, or room level in the Zoom web portal.
    • Scheduling Display Enhancements
      • Option to Restrict Instant Room Reservations
        Account owners and admins can now restrict the option to instantly reserve Zoom Rooms from the iPad Scheduling Display.
      • Support for Scheduling Display in Portrait Mode
      • The iPad will automatically switch between portrait and landscape mode depending on the orientation of the device.

    • One click to join a meeting hosted on a Third-Party Meeting Service
      Users can schedule a Zoom Room with Skype for Business, WebEx or GoToMeeting and the Zoom Room will show a button to join the audio conference with one click. This may be useful for companies migrating to Zoom from other video conferencing solutions or who work with vendors and customers who use 3rd party meeting services. This feature requires callout and must be enabled by Zoom support.

      Zoom Rooms now supports French, Japanese, Spanish, German, Portuguese and Russian.
    • On-Premise Cloud Recording Email Collection

If user does not check-in within a configurable number of minutes after the scheduled start time, the room is released from the scheduled meeting and available for other users to use. Zoom Rooms activity such as starting a scheduled meeting, starting an instant meeting, making a phone call, and starting a screen share count as checking-in and do not require checking in separately. This feature can be configured on the Zoom web portal.

Scheduling Display

  • Standalone mode
    You can configure a Scheduling Display for a conference room that does not include any additional Zoom Rooms components. Choose Scheduling Display Only when you add a Zoom Room on the Zoom web portal.

In-meeting Features

  • Switch between shared content and speaker mode
    In Zoom Rooms with a single screen, you can switch between shared content and the video of the active speaker. Tap Advanced (beneath the Change View button) to access this setting in the Advanced Settings dialog.
  • Camera sharing in Zoom Rooms 
    If you have multiple cameras connected to your Zoom Rooms, you can display the video from one camera while sharing content from a different camera. During a meeting, tap the Share Content or Camera button, then choose a camera. This allows two video streams at once from your Zoom Room.
  • Panacast camera preset support 
    You can use the camera preset values for Panacast cameras.

Management Features

  • Simplified Zoom Rooms setup
    After you install the Zoom Rooms software on a Mac or Windows computer, the screen displays a pairing code that you can enter into a Zoom Room controller to automatically connect it to the Zoom Room. In addition, each time you add a room, an activation code is generated, and you can generate an activation code for an existing room on the Zoom Rooms page of the web portal. Enter this activation code on the Zoom Room controller to register the device without the need to sign in with administrator credentials. The activation code is included in the table of room information for each page in the Location Directory.
  • LED enclosure integration
    You can see the status of a Zoom Room on a supported LED enclosure for your iPad Scheduling Display. If the LED Enclosure Integration setting is enabled on the Schedule Display tab of the Edit Room dialog on the Zoom web portal, the iPad emits a tone that changes the color of LED lights in that enclosure.

  • After you sign into the Zoom Rooms controller, the list of rooms you can choose includes both the room name and the calendar resource.
  • If you see a message that the connection could not be verified, you can now use the Retry button instead of being required to sign out. If you choose to sign out, you are prompted to enter the passcode.

    A single Software Audio Processing setting replaces the settings for Software Echo Cancellation and Automatically Adjust Mic Level. Each microphone volume is automatically saved if it has been changed from default.

  • Zoom Rooms Scheduling Display
    A new mode in the Zoom Rooms app configures your iPad tablet as a simple and convenient tool that displays and schedules meetings. Run the iPad app in Scheduling Display mode and position the tablet directly outside of the Zoom Room to display room availability and allow a room to be be reserved.
    • Display Zoom Rooms availability from outside of the room
      Position an iPad on the wall outside of a Zoom Room. The top portion of the tablet displays information about upcoming meetings scheduled for the room, while the bottom portion prominently shows whether the room is currently occupied or available.
    • Instantly schedule meetings for Zoom Rooms
      Use the Reserve button on the Scheduling Display to schedule your own meeting during a time period when the Zoom Room is free. Both the Scheduling Display and the Zoom Room calendar instantly show the new meeting, preventing others from double-booking the room.

      Details about the iPad that runs the Zoom Rooms Scheduling Display are available in the Devices tab for the room on the Zoom website.
  • Zoom Rooms In-meeting features
    • Choose a Thumbnail, Gallery, or Speaker video layout
      The new Thumbnail layout combines the speaker view with a scaled down gallery view. In this layout, a single row of thumbnails containing the most recent speakers displays below a large view of the currently active speaker. Tap the name of the current view on the iPad controller to switch among the layout choices.
    • Switch to a specific active camera
    • If more than two cameras are available in the Zoom Room, you can dynamically choose which camera is active by choosing the camera from a list. Tap Switch Camera to display the list of available cameras and then tap the one you want to use.
    • Multiple MXL USB microphone support
      When multiple MXL microphones are available in a Zoom Room, they are merged into a single entity and managed together. The room automatically detects which microphone needs to be active at a particular time. Using multiple microphones is particularly useful in large rooms where a single microphone might not detect the sounds from all parts of the room.
  • Zoom Rooms Controller features
    • Control PanaCast Intelligent Zoom
      If you have the Intelligent Zoom feature enabled for a PanaCast camera, the Camera settings in the controller includes an option for Intelligent Zoom. If you enable this option, the camera zooms in and out to include all of the people in the room.
    • Power On/Off CEC TVs in Zoom Rooms
      In Zoom Rooms that have CEC-supported TVs, you can power the TVs on or off using the iPad Controller.
    • Reduce excessive sound reverberation
      In highly reverberant rooms, you can reduce the echo in the room for remote participants by enabling the Reduce excessive sound reverberation setting..
    • Start or switch to Zoom Rooms from another app
      You can use the zoomrooms:// schema from another iOS app to launch or switch to the Zoom Rooms controller.

    • Hide host and meeting ID from private meetings
      If this feature is enabled, private meetings do not show the host name or meeting ID on the controller or the Zoom Room screen. Individuals can join a private meeting from a Zoom Room by clicking the Start button, even though they cannot see the host or meeting ID. This feature is available for iPad controllers only.
  • Zoom Room In-meeting feature
    • Camera presets
      The Camera Control option includes three buttons that can be used to return a camera to a specific preset position. You do not need a passcode to move the camera to the preset position, but you must enter the passcode to configure the presets. To configure a preset, long press a button to display a popup menu, where you can choose to save a camera position or rename the button. After a button is set, tap it to move the camera to the preset position.This is available on supported models of Logitech and AVer cameras. 
  • Zoom Rooms Controller feature
    • Improved end of meeting feedback survey flow
      Previously, if you chose the “Thumbs down” feedback option after the meeting ended, you had to select an option stating what went wrong. You can now choose the “Thumbs down” option without providing additional feedback. This is for iOS controllers only.
