Enabling stereo audio Follow

Overview

Stereo audio allows you to send audio in stereo during your meetings and webinars, if your microphone can process audio in stereo.

Note: Only meetings and webinars on the Zoom desktop client support stereo audio. Recordings and the Zoom mobile app don't support stereo audio (audio will be mono).

Enabling stereo audio

For your account

To enable stereo audio for all members of your organization:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
  3. Click the Meeting tab.
  4. Under In Meeting (Advanced), verify that the Allow users to select stereo audio in their client settings setting is enabled.
  5. If the setting is disabled, click the toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, click Turn On to verify the change.
  6. (Optional) If you want to make this setting mandatory for all users in your account, click the lock icon, then click Lock to confirm the setting.

For a group

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an administrator with the privilege to edit user groups.
  2. In the navigation menu, click User Management, then Group Management.
  3. Click the name of the group, then click the Settings tab.
  4. Click the Meeting tab.
  5. Under In Meeting (Advanced), verify that the Allow users to select stereo audio in their client settings setting is enabled.
  6. If the setting is disabled, click the toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, choose Turn On to verify the change.

    Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at the account level and needs to be changed at that level.
  7. (Optional) If you want to make this setting mandatory for all users in this group, click the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

For your own use

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click My Meeting Settings (if you are an account administrator) or Settings (if you are an account member).
  3. Click the Meeting tab.
  4. Under In Meeting (Advanced), verify that the Allow users to select stereo audio in their client settings setting is enabled.
  5. If the setting is disabled, click the status toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, click Turn On to verify the change.

    Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at either the group or account level, and you will need to contact your Zoom administrator.

Turning on stereo audio in the Zoom desktop client

After signing out of the Zoom client and logging in again, the users you enabled the setting for will now be able to select Stereo Audio in their audio settings. 

  1. In the Zoom client, click your profile picture, then click Settings
  2. Click the Audio tab.
  3. Under the Music and Professional Audio section, select the Show in-meeting option to Turn On Original Sound check box. 
  4. Select the Stereo Audio check box.
    When you join a meeting or webinar from a computer, stereo audio will now be enabled when you turn on original sound.
