Assigning Zoom licenses

Last Updated:

After purchasing new licenses from the Zoom Sales team or from the Billing page, you will need to assign them to users. Licenses can be assigned one at a time or in bulk. Licenses of the same type, such as Webinar and Large Meeting, do not compound or stack when multiple of the same type are assigned to a user.

This article covers:

Prerequisites for assigning licenses

  • Account owner or admin privileges
  • Unassigned licenses

  • Before a user can have a Large Meeting, Webinar, and/or Zoom Events add-on license, they will need to be Licensed (user type).
  • Account owners and admins can assign both a Zoom Events license and a Zoom Webinars license to a user. Zoom Events capacity will be limited by the Zoom Events license. The capacity of scheduled webinars will be limited by the larger capacity of the Zoom Webinars license or Zoom Events license.

How to assign Zoom licenses

Note: If you receive an error message related to exceeding the limit of license assignment for your account, you will not be able to assign licenses at this time. The license assignment limit is based on the number of purchased licenses you have.

Assigning a single license

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click User Management, then Users.
  3. Locate or search for the user who you want to assign a license.
  4. Click Edit at the end of the user row.
    This will open a window.
  5. Choose the User Type to assign
Note: If your account utilizes the Meeting Connector, but on-prem  is not available under User Type, then you will need to manage on-prem users, using the Group, Account, or User Profile level settings.
  6. After choosing the User Type, use the drop down to select the license.
  7. (Optional) Assign add-ons by checking the boxes for the add-on.
Add-on licenses may include Large Meeting, Zoom Webinars, Zoom Phone, Zoom Events, Zoom Sessions, Zoom Revenue Accelerator, Zoom Whiteboard Plus, and Zoom Translated Captions.
    • For Large Meeting, Webinar, or Zoom Events licenses, choose the radio button for the size of the license, if it is not automatically selected.
  8. Click Save.
The license is now applied to the user and they can use it immediately.

Assigning licenses in bulk

  6. Click Save.
The licenses are now applied to the users, and they can use them immediately.
