Zoom error message "Sorry, can't handle your request right now. Please try again later."
Last Updated:
Slack users receive the error message, "Sorry, can't handle your request right now. Please try again later." when they try starting a Zoom meeting by clicking the phone icon in the top-right corner of the Slack app, then selecting Zoom under Video & Audio.
Users may receive this error message if an alternative host, who is no longer a member of the account, is assigned to their Personal Meeting ID settings.
This article covers:
How to fix it
Remove alternative host on the Zoom web portal
- Sign in to Zoom with the user's Zoom account.
- In the navigation menu, click Meetings.
- Click the Personal Room tab.
- Click Edit.
- To the right of Options and under Alternative Hosts, verify that the alternative hosts listed are members of the Zoom account.
- Ensure that you remove the alternative host who is no longer a member of the account.
- Click Save.
Reauthorize Zoom on Slack
If there’s no alternative host, re-authorize Zoom:
- In Slack, use the command “/zoom logout”.
- Type “/zoom” to re-authorize.
Review Slack apps on Zoom Marketplace
If the issue persists after re-authorizing Slack:
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace.
- In the top-right corner, click Manage.
- In the navigation menu, Added Apps to view the apps on your account.
- Review apps to determine if they have installed Slack Account Level and Slack User Level.
- If you have both Slack Account Level and Slack User Level installed, disable the user-level app.
Note: Users will have to re-authenticate Slack by entering "/zoom", then follow the prompts to complete the authentication.
If you do not want to disable the Slack User Level app:
- Request the Slack member ID of the user reporting the error.
- Create a Jira to request a database patch.
