End-to-end (E2E) Encryption for meetings is now available in technical preview. Account owners and admins can enable end to end encryption for meetings, providing additional protection when needed. Enabling end-to-end (E2E) encryption for meetings requires all meeting participants to join from the Zoom desktop client, mobile app, or Zoom Rooms. Users will not be able to join by telephone, SIP/H.323 devices, on-premise configurations, or Lync/Skype clients, as these endpoints cannot be encrypted end-to-end. Zoom web client and third-party clients leveraging the Zoom SDK are also not supported at launch. Enabling this setting also disables the following features: join before host, cloud recording, streaming, live transcription, Breakout Rooms, polling, and meeting reactions. This setting is enabled in the Zoom web portal at the account, group, and user level and can be locked at the account or group level.

If bootstrap mode is enabled by an account owner or admin, phone users can report their current locations as company locations and/or report underlying network data for existing company locations. User-reported location and network data must be approved by administrators before it becomes actively part of defined company locations. These operations will send email notifications to admins (at most one email per day).
    • Call notifications for busy call queue members
If enabled, call queue members can receive call queue calls when they are busy on a call.
    • Opt out of specific call queues

September 24, 2017 Version: 4.1.8855.0925

Change to an existing feature

  • Webinar enhancements
The following features are available to webinar hosts and attendees who are using the latest version of the client.
    • The host can unmute attendees without making them panelists. The host no longer needs to promote an attendee to panelist in order for them to speak or share video.
    • Attendees always see the same video layout as the host.
    • The host can initiate a private chat with any attendee who is using this version of the client.
    • The setting on your device for the default recipients of an in-meeting chat message (Everyone or All panelists) remains the same as it was for the previous webinar in which you used that device.
    • For webinars that have the Q&A feature enabled, the Allow attendees to ask questions anonymously option can be disabled for all webinars in the account. This option appears grayed out if the Allow Anonymous Q&A in Webinar is disabled in Account Settings.
    • The Don’t Connect to Audio setting in the Join dialog now applies to webinar attendees.
  • Meeting/Webinar enhancements
    • Participants with raised hands appear in the order in which they were raised, rather than alphabetically.
    • If a user attempts to start a meeting within 5 minutes of the start time of a scheduled meeting or webinar, they see a dialog that asks whether they want to join the scheduled meeting or webinar, or start a new meeting.

New and enhanced features

  • Meeting/Webinar features
    • Hosts and internal participants can see when guests are present
For accounts in which this feature is enabled, the host and internal members of the account see that guests are present when an external participant arrives. The list of participants indicates which participants are guests. The external participants do not see this indicator. Note that users who are signed using an older version of the client also appear as guests in the participant list.
    • Participants can choose to remain muted
If participants are muted, the host cannot automatically unmute them. The host must request that participants unmute themselves. Participants always have the option to mute themselves.
    • Improved flow for signing into Zoom
If the administrator of your Zoom account has disabled signing in with Google or Facebook, a message explains what to do next if you attempt to sign in with a disabled method.
    • Portuguese language support
You can now select Portuguese as the primary language for your Zoom client. See Change Your Language on Zoom for details.
    • End-to-end encryption indicator
A padlock icon displays on the app if your meeting uses end-to-end encryption.
    • Setting menu availability

    • Enhanced support for Apple Pencil on iPad
The full set of Apple Pencil capabilities are now available during Zoom meetings on supported iPad devices.

You can edit the content of a message that you sent in the past. The search results that recipients see in the chat will reflect the content of your edited message.
      • Delete a message
You can delete a message that you sent at any time. The message is removed from the IM application so that recipients no longer have access to it within Zoom. Only the sender sees a notification that the message was deleted.
      • Delete a file
If your chat consists of a file, you can choose to delete it. Recipients no longer have access within Zoom to the deleted file.
    • Provide enhanced status information
In addition to showing a text string that displays your status, you can indicate that you do not wish to receive notifications by choosing the Do Not Disturb option for your status for a specific period of time. In addition, the presence status will automatically change to “In a meeting” once you start or join a Zoom meeting.
    • Control your notifications
You can choose whether to receive notifications when all messages arrive, to only receive a notification when messages are addressed specifically to you or to everyone, or to receive no notifications. You can also modify this setting so that you receive notifications only for specific groups.
    • Send multiple files in a single chat message
You can select up to 5 files or images to send within a single chat message.

    • Send animated Giphy images
You can search for animated images enabled by the integration with Giphy.com, and then share them in direct messages or group conversations. Administrators can enable or disable this feature on the IM Settings tab of the Zoom web portal

    • Non-verbal feedback

    • Co-hosts can add and moderate breakout rooms
When a host or co-host join a breakout room, they both have moderator privileges in the breakout room. The host has additional "breakout room management" privileges. When they return to the main session, they resume their roles as host and co-host. A co-host who joins a breakout room can view the attendee list. A co-host can  join/leave any breakout room, but cannot start/stop the breakout room, assign user, move other users between breakout rooms, or broadcast message.
  • Chat features

If this option is enabled, the option to allow attendees to join the meeting before the host arrives is automatically disabled.
    • 3rd party audio conference integration
