Release notes for the (legacy) Meeting Connector

Last Updated:

Zoom has recently made several important security updates to its on-prem products, including adding support for the automated issuance of TLS certificates. If you have not configured a certificate by November 30, 2022, Zoom may configure a certificate on your behalf. However, even if you have a configured certificate, you may still have to configure your network/firewall as later this year Zoom clients will connect using an FQDN (*.zoomonprem.com) instead of an IP address.

December 18, 2022

Version: 4.8.20221216.162

New and enhanced features

  • Support for FQDN addresses for TLS authentication
The Meeting Connector (Zone Controller and MMR servers) now supports using FQDN for TLS authentication with the Zoom Client utilizing the FQDN address in addition to the IP address. If admins have not already configured their own certificates, a *.zoomonprem.com certificate will be assigned. Due to this, while Zoom will continue to support communication via IP addresses for now, it is recommended that admins ensure their firewalls allow traffic via the FQDN address *.zoomonprem.com for both the Zoom Client and the Meeting Connector to avoid any on-prem meeting connectivity issues.

  • Meeting Encryption supported
The Meeting Connector now supports encryption for all its communication methods
  • Auto-set ZC and MMR Address
The Zone Controller and Multimedia Router address will be directly pulled from the configured eth0 and eth0:0 IP addresses configured on the VM.
