Kiosk Settings for Zoom Rooms Follow


When setting up Zoom Rooms on the Mac mini you will need to ensure some settings are configured correctly to set it for kiosk mode. This will allow Zoom Rooms to start and login automatically in the event of system restart. 

Enable Auto Login:

  1. In the Windows search box on the task bar, type ‘run’ and hit enter.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type ‘control userpasswords2’ and hit enter.
  3. Uncheck “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer”

Enable Windows High Performance Mode:

Windows 7

  1. Go to Windows Start button, and click ‘Control Panel
  2. Select ‘Hardware and Sound
  3. Make sure ‘High Performance Mode’ is selected

Windows 8

  1. Click on the ‘battery icon’ visible on the taskbar of your Windows 8 computer screen
  2. Click on ‘More power options’
  3. Make sure ‘High Performance Mode’ is selected

Windows 10

  1. Right-click the ‘battery icon’ in your system tray and choose ‘Power Options’ 
  2. Click the ‘Hardware and Sound’  category and then select ‘Power Options’ 
  3. Make sure ‘High Performance Mode’ is selected

Turn Off All Notifications

  1. Turn off notifications instructions

Enable Automatic Start after Power Failure:

  1. Access your computer’s BIOS (please see computer documentation for steps).
  2. Under your BIOS’ Power category, please set “Restore on AC Power Loss” to “Power On” or equivalent. 

Enable Auto Login:

  1. Go to Spotlight Search located on the top right of your desktop.
  2. Find Security & Privacy
  3. On the General tab, uncheck "Require password" (if checked)
  4. Uncheck "Disable automatic login" (if checked)
  5. You will be prompted to enter the admin password to enable automatic login; follow instruction to retrieve forgotten password.


Note: To enable auto login, you must first disable FileVault.

Enable Automatic Start after Power Failure:

  1. Go to "Energy Saver" under System Preferences
  2. Select "Start up automatically after a power failure"
