Screen Share Using Airplay Mirroring Follow

Overview

Wireless Airplay Mirroring is a one-click method to share content from a MacOS or iOS device to a Zoom Room. This uses the Airplay bonjour protocol to communicate between a Zoom client on MacOS/iOS and a Zoom Room 

There are other methods to share content from your laptop or mobile device to a Zoom Room:

Note: After November 4, 2017 enabling Zoom features uses Tiered Settings. Previously configured settings for the Airplay Mirroring feature will continue to work in the same way. Changes made by an administrator might affect meetings and webinars that use this setting.

Prerequisites

Using Airplay Mirroring

On a Mac OSX device:

  1. Go to Airplay Display at the top right corner of the Apple menu
  2. Click on the Zoom Room name to initiate the screen share. In this example, it is "SJ-5-Porsche (Open Space)"

    A prompt will appear to enter the sharing password.

  3. Enter the passcode as it appears on your Zoom Room's screen.

  4. Click Disconnect Airplay to exit sharing

On your iOS device:

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of your device to bring up the menu.
  2. Tap the AirPlay button and select the Zoom Room name.
  3. Enter the passcode shown on your Zoom Room screen.
    This will share your iOS display to the Zoom Room TV screen.
  4. Tap Disconnect Airplay to exit sharing

Enabling the Start AirPlay service manually feature

To enable the Start AirPlay service manually feature for all Zoom Rooms of your organization:

  1. Sign into the Zoom web portal as an administrator with the privilege to edit Account settings, and click Account Settings.
  2. Navigate to the Start AirPlay service manually option on the Meeting tab and verify that the setting is enabled.
    If the setting is disabled, click the Status toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, choose Turn On to verify the change.

  3. (Optional) If you want to make this setting mandatory for all users in your account, click the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

To enable the Start AirPlay service manually feature for a Zoom Room: 

  1. Sign into the Zoom web portal as an administrator with the privilege to edit Zoom Room settings, and click Zoom Rooms.
  2. Click on the Room Name.
  3. Click Edit to view the Room settings.

  4. Click on the Meeting Settings tab.
  5. Navigate to the Start AirPlay service manually option and verify that the setting is enabled.
    If the setting is disabled, click the Status toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, choose Turn On to verify the change.

    Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at a higher level of the hierarchy, and you will need to contact your Zoom Rooms administrator.

Displaying Manual AirPlay screen share instructions

During a presentation (when a meeting is not in session)

  1. Tap Presentation on the Zoom Rooms controller.
  2. Tap Share iPhone/iPad/Mac.

During a meeting

  1. Start or join a meeting.
  2. Tap Share Content on the Zoom Rooms controller.
  3. Tap Share iPhone/iPad/Mac.
