Notifications For Group Messaging Follow

Overview

You can change your message notifications for Zoom through the settings. You can adjust your settings for an individual group or all groups. You can also set do not disturb hours and choose not to receive notifications while you are in a meeting.

  • Zoom Client for Mac, version 4.1.8826.0925 or higher
  • Zoom Client for PC, version  4.1.8826.0925 or higher

Change Notifications for all Group Chats

  1. Login into your Zoom client.
  2. Click on Settings.

    This will pull up the instant message notification options.

    • Show offline contacts: Select if you would contacts to show in your contacts list even when they are offline.
    • Include a Link Preview: If a link is sent a chat, you will see an image and some preview text from that page if this option is selected.
    • Change my status to Offline if I am inactive for...: Select how long after being inactive you would like to be shown as Offline.
    • Bounce application icon when I receive a new message: Select if you would like the application icon to bounce in your dock when you receive a new message and if you would like it to bounce once or continuously until the message is read.
    • Blocked Users: Click Manage blocked users to see who you have blocked and remove users from the block list.
    • Notification Settings: This only applies for group chats. You will still receive notifications for chat messages with an individual user.
      • All messages: Select this to receive notifications for all messages that you receive.  
      • Only direct messages, mentions: Select this to only receive a message when you are tagged (ie. @Your Name) or @all is tagged.
      • Nothing: Select this to receive no notifications for group messages.
      • With exceptions for: Click on this to set up which groups you want to have exceptions for. Change the radio buttons for individual groups.

      • Automatically disable notifications from: Set a do not disturb time when you will not receive any notifications.
      • Pause notifications while I am in a meeting or internal call: Select this if you do not want to receive notifications while you are in a Zoom meeting.

Change Notifications for an Individual Group Chat

  1. Login into your Zoom client.
  2. Click on Chats.

  3. Click on the name of the group chat you want to adjust notifications for to open the chat window. 
  4. Click on More at the top.

  5. Choose if you want to receive notifications for: 
    • All messages: Select this to receive notifications for all messages for this group.  
    • Only direct messages, mentions: Select this to only receive a message when you are tagged (ie. @Your Name) or @all is tagged.
    • Nothing: Select this to receive no notifications for this group chat.
