Group Messaging Archiving Follow

Overview

When Group Messaging (IM/Presence) is enabled on your Zoom account, chat messages are automatically archived and stored on Zoom’s cloud leverage AWS DynamoDB. Archived messages are stored up to 10 years.

Note:  After November 4, 2017 enabling Zoom features uses Tiered Settings. Previously configured settings for the Group Messaging Archiving feature will continue to work in the same way. 

Enabling Group Messaging Archiving

To enable Group Messaging Archiving on your account:

  1. Sign into the Zoom web portal as an administrator with the privilege to edit IM settings, and click IM Management.
  2. Navigate to the Cloud Storage option on the IM Settings tab and verify the setting is enabled. If the setting is disabled, click the Status toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, choose Turn On to verify the change. Once enabled, select the amount of time you would like to save chat messages for. Messages can be saved on Zoom's Cloud for up to 10 years.

Note:
 By default, only the account owner has access to Group Messaging archives through the Chat History tab within IM Management. Account owners can allow other Admins and Members on the account access to the Chat History by adding View Access for Chat history through Role Based Access Control.

Downloading Archived Group Messages
Archived messages can be viewed or downloaded by the account owner or user with access.

  1. Sign into the Zoom web portal as an administrator with the privilege to edit IM settings, and click IM Management.
  2. Navigate to the Chat History tab. To view a list of messages, specify the dates you would like to search. Optionally, you can search for messages sent or received by a specific user.

  3. Select Download
    This will download the chat in a CSV file in the following format
    1. Session ID
    2. Sender email
    3. Receiver email or chat room name
    4. Date
    5. Message content
