Resetting to Factory Default and Upgrading Firmware on a Polycom Phone Follow

Overview

Follow this article to reset your Polycom phone and install custom firmware. You should do this before provisioning your phone.

Resetting the Phone to Factory Default

Note: Screenshots in this section apply to VVX series phone, but the instructions also apply to SoundPoint and SoundStation phones.

 

  1. On your phone, press the Home button  then select Settings.
  2. Navigate to Advanced then Administration Settings 
    Note: You will be prompted to enter the administrator password. Try the default password of 456 or contact the phone vendor for further assistance.
  3. Navigate to Reset to Defaults then select Reset To Factory.
  4. Press Yes to complete factory reset. The phone will restart to complete the reset process.

Accessing the Phone's Web Interface

  1. On your phone, press the Home button  then select Settings.
  2. Navigate to Status > Network.
  3. TCP/IP Parameters > IPv4 Addr and make note of the IP address.
  4. Open your web browser and enter https:// followed by the phone's IP address from the previous step.
    Note: The web browser must be on a computer that's connected to the same network as the phone. If your browser displays a security warning, add a security exception and continue.
  5. Log in to the web interface as an Admin.
    Note: You will be prompted to enter the administrator password. If you have already provisioned the phone this can be found on zoom.us on the company info page. If you have not already provisioned the phone, try the default password of 456 or contact the phone vendor for further assistance.

Upgrading the Firmware Using the Phone's Web Interface

Note: On the Home page, check the UC Software Version. If the phone has the supported firmware version, you can skip this section.

  1. Click Utilities > Software Upgrade.
  2. Check Polycom Hosted Server and click Check for Updates.
    You will get a message saying "Successfully fetched the available versions".
  3. In the Available software versions drop-down menu, select the supported firmware version. Make sure to not select a version that has a letter at the end.
  4. Click Install. The phone will reboot during the firmware installation. The process might take 2-3 minutes.
