Managing the Main Company Number and Caller ID Follow

Overview

As the Zoom account owner or admin, you can view or change the main company number you choose during initial setup. The main company number can be used by external callers to reach your phone users (by dialing the main company number and the user's extension). It can also be used by phone users as their caller ID when making calls.

Changing the Main Company Number

The main company number is chosen during the initial setup. Follow these steps to view or change your main company number.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click Phone System ManagementPhone Numbers.
  3. Click the Assigned tab.
    The main company number is displayed at the top.
  4. Click the pencil icon beside Main Company Number to change it.
  5. Select a number from the list of unassigned numbers then click Confirm. You can also click Get Numbers to purchase a new phone number.
    The previous main company number will be transferred to the Unassigned tab.

Changing the Main Company Caller ID Name

The caller ID name is displayed on outbound calls when users select Main Company Number as their caller ID. If have multiple sites, you can change the Main Company Caller ID Name for each site.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click Phone System ManagementCompany Info.
  3. Follow one of these steps depending on if you have multiple sites:
    • If you don't have multiple sites, click the Caller ID tab.
    • If you have multiple sites, click Multiple Sites, click the name of the site, then click Caller ID Name.
  4. Click Change next to the current caller ID name.
  5. Enter a new caller ID name and click Save.

Re-assigning a Phone Number to the Main Company Number

If you have a direct number assigned to a phone user, call queue, common area phone, or auto receptionist, follow these steps to assign it to the main company number and main auto receptionist.

Note: You can also re-assign a number between phone users, call queues, common area phones, or auto receptionists.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click Phone System Management > Phone Numbers.
  3. Click the number you want to assign as the main company number.
  4. Next to Assigned To, click the Unbind next the user, room, call queue or auto receptionist name.
  5. Click Yes to confirm. The number will appear in the list of unassigned numbers.
  6. Click the Assigned tab.
    The main company number is displayed at the top.
  7. Click the pencil icon beside Main Company Number to change it.
  8. Select the number you previously moved to unassigned. This number should be at the top of the list.
  9. Click Confirm. The previous main company number will become unassigned.
  10. (Optional) Follow the steps to  assign the number that was previously the main company number.
