Enabling authentication for users to view cloud recordings Follow

Overview

Authentication allow hosts to restrict participants who can view a cloud recording to those who are logged into Zoom, and even restrict it to Zoom users whose email addresses use a certain domain. 

If a viewer tries to watch the recording and does not meet the defined authentication criteria, such as not being logged in with the correct email domain or not on the account, they will receive the following message:

  • Pro, Business, Education, or Enterprise Account
  • Licensed User
  • Cloud Recording enabled

Enabling require users to authenticate before viewing cloud recordings

User

  1. Sign into the Zoom web portal and navigate to Settings.
  2. Click the Recording tab.
  3. Enable Require users to authenticate before viewing cloud recordings.
  4. If the setting is disabled, click the Status toggle to enable it. In the Authentication Options, Click Edit or Hide to change the name or hide the option as desired.
    Note:
    If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at either the Group or Account level, and you will need to contact your Zoom administrator.

Account

  1. Sign into the Zoom web portal.
  2. Navigate to Account Management then select Account Settings.
  3. Click the Recording Tab.
  4. Enable Require users to authenticate before viewing cloud recordings.
  5. If the setting is disabled, click the Status toggle to enable it. In the pop-up window click Enable.
    Note: Click + Add Option to specify any authentication method.

Group

Note: If you signed up for a new Zoom account after August 21, 2021; or the New Admin Experience is enabled on your account, the Group Management page has been renamed to Groups.

  1. Sign into the Zoom web portal.
  2. Navigate to User Management then select Group Management.
  3. Click the desired user group, or create a new group.
  4. Click the Recording tab.
  5. Enable Require users to authenticate before viewing cloud recordings.
  6. If the setting is disabled, click the Status toggle to enable it. In the pop-up window click Enable. In the Authentication Options, Click Edit or Hide to change the name or hide the option as desired.

Enabling authentication for users to view a specific cloud recording

User

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal
  2. Click Recordings.
  3. In the Cloud Recordings tab, click on the name of the desired recording.
  4. Click Share.
  5. In the Share this cloud recording pop-up window, under Share this recording, click Only authenticated users can view.
  6. Choose the desired authentication name, if there is more than one.
  7. Click Save.

Account

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal
  2. Navigate to Account Management then select Recording Management.
  3. Click Share to the right of the desired recording name.
  4. In the Share this cloud recording pop-up window, under Share this recording, click Only authenticated users can view.
  5. Choose the desired authentication name, if there is more than one.
  6. Click Save.
