Changes to existing features 

  • Management features
    • Meeting and webinar passwords now called Passcodes
      Meeting passwords will now be called Passcodes. This includes Room Meeting IDs. 

New and enhanced features

  • Personal Zoom Rooms
    Zoom Rooms Appliances can be used for Personal Zoom Rooms. 
  • In-meeting features
    • DTEN Me device support 
    • Audio and video statistics 
      Users can view audio and video statistics during a meeting. Codec, resolution, bitrate, jitter, latency, and packet loss are displayed. 
    • One on one meeting room name 
      The room name will not be displayed in two person meetings. 
    • One on one meeting active speaker 
      The active speaker box will not be displayed in two person meetings.
    • One on one meeting participant count 
      The participant count will not be displayed in two person meetings.
    • Display file name of Dropbox, Onedrive, or Google Drive files when sent in meeting chat
    • Convert Zoom Phone Call to Zoom Meeting 
      Users can convert a Zoom Phone call in a Zoom Room to a Zoom meeting.
    • Zoom Phone three way calling 
      Users can have multiple active calls simultaneously in a Zoom Room, and merge the calls when desired.
    • Transfer Zoom Phone Call 
      Users can transfer active Zoom Phone calls from a Zoom Room to another user.
    • Gallery view on multiple screens 
      Attendees can be spread across multiple screens when using gallery view. 
    • Invite others during a meeting 
      Users on a Zoom Rooms for Touch device can invite others via email or phone during a meeting
    • Display top banner during a phone call 
      Users have the option to display the room name, time and sharing key on the top of the screen during a phone call. 
    • Attendee audio status 
      When users join a meeting their audio status will be displayed on their video thumbnails until they successfully connect to the meeting audio.
    • Admitting external attendees 
      Attendees from the same account as the host can admit external attendees in the waiting room. This setting can be toggled on or off.
    • Original sound 
      If software audio processing (SAP) is disabled, Zoom Rooms will automatically enter original audio mode when music is detected. If no music is detected after one minutes, the room will leave original audio mode.
    • Unmute Zoom Rooms attendee in a webinar 
      Webinar hosts can unmute a Zoom Rooms attendee without promoting the attendee to panelist.
    • Select screen sharing privileges 
      Meeting hosts using a Zoom Room can restrict the ability to screen share to the host only, or allow all participants to share. 
    • Searching participants 
      Zoom Rooms users can search for participants from the participants list in a meeting.
    • Country selection when dialing 
      Country flags have been replaced with country names.
    • One click to join the audio of a Google Meet meeting
    • Invite others by email
      Users cannot edit the invite email subject or content during a meeting.
    • Updated ringtone and chimes in meeting
    • Advanced noise suppression
      Users can choose moderate or aggressive noise suppression on their Zoom Room controllers to eliminate background noise. This feature can also be disabled.
    • Check out
      Users who end a scheduled meeting early will have the option to check out and free up the room for other users.
  • Management features
    • Disable annotation saving
      Administrators can disable the ability to save annotations on a whiteboard or a screen share.
    • Select day for automatic restart
      Admins can select the day of the week they would like the Zoom Room computer and controller to restart.
    • Multiple language support 
      French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish are now supported.
    • Sign out from all devices 
      Users can sign out of Zoom Rooms from the web portal. 
  • Scheduling display features
    • Passcode check 
      If a complex passcode is required, user created passwords for scheduled meetings will have to meet certain criteria to be considered secure.
  • Controller features
    • Room Controls 
      Third party electrical equipment can be controlled from the Zoom room controller interface. Click here to learn more. 
    • Multiple controllers or scheduling displays 
      Users can have multiple controllers or scheduling displays in one Zoom Room.
    • Rename participants from controller 
      Meeting hosts can rename participants from the Zoom Rooms controller.

    Support enhanced encryption for connections between Zoom Rooms and Zoom Rooms Controllers and the direct share functionality of the Zoom Meetings client. Starting August 16, 2020, Zoom Rooms and Controllers will need to be running version 5.0.5 or higher to function.

Changes to existing features

  • Unmuting participants
    If a host mutes a participant then unmutes the person later, a consent message will be displayed to the participant allowing them to unmute or stay muted.

New and enhanced features

  • In-meeting features
    • Security features
      Meeting hosts can tap the security option while in a meeting to easily access the following features: lock meeting, enable waiting room, disable chat, disable participant renaming, disable screen sharing for others, remove participant, report a participant.
    • Report a participant
      Meeting hosts can tap the security option while in a meeting to report a participant to Zoom trust and safety for inappropriate behavior.
    • Host selection when leaving a meeting
      The host will be prompted to assign a new host before leaving the meeting 
    • Waiting room
      Hosts in direct share meetings or phone calls will be able to allow or prevent participants from joining their meetings when waiting room is enabled. 
    • Meeting information
      Users can view the numeric password which is used for phone and H323/SIP call-in participants. The numeric password is displayed with the phone dial in number on the meeting information screen.
    • Logs
      Admin users can enable a web setting that allows Zoom support to submit logs to Zoom on behalf of the admin, or have the logs automatically uploaded in the event of a crash.
    • Starting a test meeting while not signed in
      Users must accept Zoom’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy via pop-up message before starting a test meeting in a Zoom Room that is not signed in. 
  • Management features
    • Recording consent customization
      Admins can customize the message that appears asking participants for their consent to be recorded. 
  • Scheduling display features
    • Scheduling a password protected meeting
      Users can choose to schedule a password protected meeting and customize the meeting password from a scheduling display. If passwords are required for scheduled meetings, a password will be generated automatically and cannot be disabled from the scheduling display.

  • Recording permissions
    Admin users can restrict recording permissions from the web so that meeting hosts cannot allow attendees to record. 
  • AES 256-bit GCM encryption
    Zoom is upgrading to the AES 256-bit GCM encryption standard, which offers increased protection of your meeting data in transit and resistance against tampering. This provides confidentiality and integrity assurances on your Zoom Meeting, Zoom Video Webinar, and Zoom Phone data. This version of Virtual Room Connector will support GCM encryption when it is automatically enabled for all accounts on May 30. For H.323/SIP devices, GCM encryption will be used between the Cloud Room Connector and the Meeting connector, to ensure codec compatibility.

Changes to existing features

  • Problem reports
    In addition to basic logs, users can send audio, content sharing, and crash dump logs with a problem report using the Zoom Rooms Controller.
  • Signing in to Zoom Rooms
    To pair Zoom Rooms and controller using the pairing code, the Zoom Rooms Controller must be upgraded to versions 5.0 or above. Alternatively, you can sign in or enter activation code on the Zoom Rooms and Zoom Rooms Controller individually.
