Selecting data center regions for meetings/webinars
Last Updated:
Zoom lets customers make choices about the data centers that process their data in transit. Account owners and admins on paid accounts can customize which data center regions they use for hosting their real-time meeting and webinar data in transit. You can opt in or out of each specific data center region for data in transit. Your default region, which is the region where your account was provisioned, will be locked.
Data in transit, or data in motion, is data actively moving from one location to another such as across the internet or through a private network. Data at rest is data that is not actively moving from device to device or network to network such as data stored in a cloud data center.
Depending on how your account is provisioned, the available regions listed may be different.
If you opt out of a region, the regional dial-in numbers and Zoom Conference Room Connector (CRC) endpoints will be disabled for your meetings and webinars. Participants can still connect using phone dial-in or CRC, but would need to use a number or CRC endpoint based in a region that is enabled for use in this meeting or webinar. Available dial-in numbers and CRC endpoints should be listed in the meeting or webinar invitation provided by the host.
Data center regions selections apply only for meeting and webinar data in transit. The selections do not impact the location of data at rest. Data center region selections also do not apply to Zoom Phone or related features.
Prerequisites for selecting data center for hosted meetings and webinars
- Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Education account
Notes:
- Free and Pro accounts are locked to the default region where their account is provisioned.
- The selected data center regions will affect the available dial-in/call-to countries and available Conference Room Connector (CRC) endpoints.
