Reporting a participant for inappropriate behavior Follow

Overview 

As part of our in meeting security features to help you keep your meetings secure, the meeting host can report a participant during a meeting. The host is able to select which participants they would like to report, include any written details, and add attachments. This report is automatically sent to the Zoom Trust and Safety team to evaluate any misuse of the platform and block a user if necessary.

  • Zoom desktop client
    • Windows: 5.4.2 (58740.1105) or higher
    • macOS: 5.4.2 (58740.1105) or higher
    • Linux: 5.4.53350.1027 or higher
  • Zoom mobile app
    • Android: 5.4.2 (524) or higher
    • iOS: 5.4.1 (58706.1028) or higher
  • Must be host or co-host of the meeting

Enabling the Report feature 

This feature is enabled by default. If you have disabled it for your account, or would like to disable it for your account, follow the instructions below. 

Account

To enable the report participants feature for all users in the account:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the navigation panel, click Account Management then Account Settings.
  3. Under In Meeting (Advanced), verify that Report participants to Zoom is enabled.
  4. If the setting is disabled, click the toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, click Turn On to verify the change.
  5. (Optional) If you want to make this setting mandatory for all users in your account, click the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

Group

To enable the report participants feature for a group of users:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit groups.
  2. In the navigation panel, click User Management then Group Management.
  3. Click the applicable group name from the list, then click the Settings tab.
  4. Under In Meeting (Advanced), verify that Report participants to Zoom is enabled.
  5. If the setting is disabled, click the toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, click Turn On to verify the change.
    Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at the account level and needs to be changed at that level.
  6. (Optional) If you want to make this setting mandatory for all users in the group, click the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

User

To enable the report participants feature for your own use:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation panel, click Settings.
  3. Under In Meeting (Advanced), verify that Report participants to Zoom is enabled.
  4. If the setting is disabled, click the toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, click Turn On to verify the change.
    Note: If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at either the group or account level. You need to contact your Zoom admin. 

Reporting a participant during a meeting

While in a meeting, you can report a participant for inappropriate behavior.

  1. As the meeting host, click Security.
  2. Click Report.
  3. Select the name of the participant you would like to report.
  4. Check the reason for reporting this participant.
  5. (Optional) Enter any comments to provide more information.
  6. (Optional) Click Upload File to add screenshots or photos showing the problem.
  7. (Optional) Check Include desktop screenshot to include a current screenshot of your desktop.
  8. Click Send.
    You will receive a notification that your report was sent successfully.
  1. As the meeting host, tap Participants in the Meeting Controls. 
  2. Tap Report.
  3. Tap the name of the participant you would like to report, then tap Next.
  4. Tap the reason why you are reporting this participant.
  5. Tap the text box and provide a brief description of what happened.
  6. (Optional) Tap Attach a Photo to include a screenshot or photo of the incident.
  7. Tap Send
  1. Tap Participants in the Meeting Controls. 
  2. Tap Report.
  3. Tap the name of the participant you would like to report, then tap Next.
  4. Tap the reason why you are reporting this participant.
  5. Tap the text box and provide a brief description of what happened.
  6. (Optional) Tap Attach a Photo to include a screenshot or photo of the incident.
  7. Tap Send.

Reporting participants for a past meeting or webinar

You can report a participant for a past meeting or webinar that you hosted.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Meetings or Webinars.
  3. Click the Previous or Previous Webinars tab.
  4. Hover over a meeting or webinar, then click Report to Zoom.
  5. If your meeting or webinar consisted of several sessions, click Report this Session next to a session.
  6. Click the drop-down menu to select participants to report, then click Report.
    Note: You won't see this option if your meeting or webinar only had 1 other participant.
  7. Check the reason for reporting this participant.
  8. (Optional) Enter any comments to provide more information.
  9. (Optional) Click Choose File to add screenshots or photos showing the problem.
  10. Click Submit.
