Requesting a number port in South Africa Follow

Overview

A number port allows you to move a pre-existing number from another carrier to be used on your Zoom Phone account.

Note:

  • Local number portability is currently supported in South Africa.
  • Porting requires a feasibility study with our porting supplier.

Prerequisites

  • Account owner or admin privileges
  • Zoom Phone license
  • Most recent telephone bill/invoice with the Donor operator

Requesting a number port

  1. Download and complete the required Customer Instruction Form remembering to paste this onto your business letter headed paper.
  2. Send an email to numberportingemea@zoom.us and include the following:
    • Required subject line 'South Africa number port'.
    • Completed and hand-signed Customer Instruction Form.
    • Recent telephone bill relating to your porting numbers which should be dated within the last 30 days.
  3. Zoom will review and confirm receipt of the request.
  4. Zoom will send a request to our local partner in South Africa to validate the porting numbers are transferrable. Once the numbers are confirmed as transferrable, we will send you the porting Letter of Authorisation (LOA) to complete and hand-sign.
  5. Zoom will send a request to your losing provider to validate the information on the LOA as the transfer request is dependent on your losing provider. If accepted, Zoom and the losing provider will work together to schedule the number port. Once approved, the numbers will be available for you to manage in the Zoom web portal.

Guidelines

  • The information you provide must match exactly what’s on record with your current provider.
  • LOA must be hand/wet signed and dated within the last 3 months. Electronically signed LOAs are not accepted in South Africa.
  • Number portability checks will be carried out prior to submitting the port to the losing carrier.
  • The person signing the LOA and requesting the port must be authorised to make changes on the account with the losing supplier.

There may be times where the providers advise some numbers as non-portable.

  • You may experience some loss of service to incoming calls during the port activation window whilst the porting numbers are being transferred away from the losing provider.
  • Porting usually takes an average of 45 days from the day of LOA submission.
