Active App Notifier
To enhance transparency of how data you provide in a meeting is being shared, the Active Apps Notifier provides a notice to meeting and webinar participants when a host or other participant is using an app that accesses meeting or webinar content, such as video, audio, chat, and/or meeting files during a meeting. These apps include live streaming and transcription services. Although account owners and participants can share meeting or webinar content at any time, the Active Apps Notifier lets people know which apps other participants are using and the type of content the app accesses during that meeting or webinar.
For example, a user may be using a transcription app that obtains a real time audio feed to transcribe the meeting contents. Other participants are able to see which user is using the app, see that the app is accessing audio, and click on the app to learn more about the app and its developer.

Using the Active Apps Notifier
When in a meeting or webinar and any 3rd-party app, integration, or service begins accessing meeting or webinar content, the Active Apps Notifier will appear in the top-left corner of the meeting window.
- Click the Active Apps Notifier icon to display the 3rd-party service that is currently accessing content during a meeting or webinar, as well as what type of content the app has access to, and which meeting participant(s) approved the app for their own use in the meeting or webinar.

What apps can I use in Zoom meetings?
You can install apps from our Zoom App Marketplace to enable additional features and tools for meetings and webinars hosted on your account. For Zoom accounts with more than one user, the account owner and admins can control which apps other users may access by requiring pre-approval for apps.
How does the Active Apps Notifier work?
When a Marketplace app accesses meeting content, such as video, audio, chat, and/or meeting files, the Active Apps Notifier icon appears, along with a tooltip, in the meeting window. Users can hover over the icon to show a list of apps that are accessing the content in that meeting or webinar, along with what type of content the app has access to, and which users are using the app. Users can click on the app names in the list to learn more about the app and its developer.
The Active Apps Notifier icon will appear in the same window as your meeting or webinar, in the top-left corner next to the encryption icon.
How do I turn off the Active Apps Notifier?
The Active Apps Notifier remains active for the duration of the meeting, so users can view apps that are actively accessing content at any point during the meeting. Zoom is providing these notices to help you make informed decisions about how you use Zoom.
Can I view all active apps used by my account?
Yes, the Active Apps Notifier Report allows account owners and admins to see and manage the apps that have accessed account users’ meeting content from the past 30 days, so they can make informed decisions about whether they want to continue to approve use of these apps in their meetings and webinars. Through the report, admins can view each active app’s Marketplace page for more information about the app, and disable it if needed.
What does it mean for account owners and users to share data with apps?
Many apps require access to certain meeting content to function properly. For example, a meeting host may want to use a transcription app to create records of meetings for colleagues unable to attend the meetings. In this and other similar cases, a user (here, the meeting host) authorizes the app to access the data (in this case, audio content from the meeting) needed for the app to function.
The Active Apps Notifier refers to an “account owner.” What does that mean? Who is the account owner?
The account owner is the individual user who has the greatest access and control over the account, and is typically the person who sets up an account on Zoom. This role can be reassigned to another user after the account is created, and the user can be actively hosting meetings or webinars on their account, or managing account settings without hosting meetings. The account owner can be found on the Account Profile page.

Zoom is providing these notices to help you make informed decisions about how you use Zoom. During meetings where a Marketplace app has access to meeting content, you may choose to mute your microphone, turn off video, not send chats, or leave a meeting entirely.
Does the Active Apps Notifier alert other meeting participants when I’m using apps outside of Zoom, such as a web browser, during a meeting?
No, the Active Apps Notifier only applies to apps within the Zoom platform on the App Marketplace that are a part of your meeting. It will only notify others of in-meeting apps accessing meeting content, such as video, audio, and/or chat during the meeting. The Active Apps Notifier does not notify meeting participants of activity outside of the Zoom platform.
