Using the audio library to customize audio Follow

Zoom Phone admins and users can use the audio library to select, record, or upload custom audio. You can also convert text to speech if you want an quick and easy method to generate audio.

Note: Recording custom audio is not supported on Internet Explorer.

Limitations of the audio library

Before using the audio library, take note of these limitations:

  • You can have up to 100 recordings or files in your audio library.
  • You can only see your own audio library and will not be able to view or select from other admins' or users' audio libraries.
  • Admins can play the current custom audio that is set for the extension. For example, if you view a call queue's settings, you can play the current greeting prompt.
  • Admins can play, download, rename, or delete users' custom audio files.

How to select from existing audio

If you previously recorded audio, uploaded audio, or converted text to speech, you can select from your existing audio files in the audio library.

  1. Access the audio library.
  2. Select an existing audio file in your audio library.
  3. (Optional) Hover over an audio file for options to edit the display name, play the audio file, download the audio file, or delete it.

Alternatively, follow the steps to convert text to speech, record custom audio, or upload an audio file.

How to convert text to speech

You can convert text to speech if you want an quick and easy method to generate audio.

  1. Access the audio library.
  2. Click Add Audio.
  3. Click the Text to Speech tab.
  4. Enter the following information:
    • Audio Name: Enter a display name to help you identify the audio file in your audio library.
    • Voice: Use the drop-down menus to select a dialect or language and male or female voice. 
    • Message to play: Enter the text you want to convert to speech. 
      Tip: You can't edit this message later on so make sure to back up your text.
  5. Click Play at the bottom-left corner of text box to preview the audio.
  6. Click Add to finish converting the text to speech and add the resulting audio file to your audio library.

How to record custom audio

Follow these steps to record custom audio directly in the Zoom web portal. You must have a functioning microphone to record.

Note: Recording custom audio is not supported on IE.

  1. Access the audio library.
  2. Click Add Audio.
  3. Click the Record by Computer tab.
    Note: Allow Zoom to use your microphone if prompted by your browser.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to test and adjust your microphone volume, then click Next.
  5. Click Record to start recording audio.
  6. Click the red stop button  to stop recording.
  7. Click one of these options (optional):
    • Play icon : Play the audio you recorded.
    • Rerecord: Rerecord if you are not happy with the result.
    • Download: Download the recorded audio as a WAV file.
  8. Click Add to add the recording to your audio library.
  9. Click Use the Audio.
    Recorded audio will be added to your Zoom Phone audio library for future use.

How to upload an audio file

If you can already recorded audio, follow these steps to upload it to the Zoom web portal.

Tip: If you previously recorded and downloaded an audio file using the Zoom web portal, you can follow these steps to upload the audio file and re-use it.

  1. Access the audio library.
  2. Click Add Audio.
  3. Click the Upload tab.
  4. Click Upload and select a supported audio file.
    Note: Click the ? icon to view requirements for the audio file. If your audio file doesn't meet the requirements, it can still be uploaded and played in the web portal but won't play when someone calls in.
  5. Click Use the Audio.
    Uploaded audio will be added to your Zoom Phone audio library for future use.
