This article explains what happens to cloud recording files when (1) a user deletes their cloud recording files, or an account administrator deletes a user.

User deletes cloud recording files

When a user deletes their recording files, they can make the following choices about how and when their recording files are deleted: [all recording files for a meeting, or specific recording files].

Auto delete recording files to trash folder after a specified number of days. After the specified number of days, automatically move deleted recording files to the trash folder for 30 days.

After these 30 days, recording files will be deleted from the trash folder within 24 hours.

After this action is completed, these files can’t be recovered.

Admin deletes user

When an admin deletes a user, the admin can adjust the following features to direct how and when the deleted users’ recording files are deleted.

An admin deletes a user through the web portal or API call without specifying the option parameter to transfer the recording files to another existing licensed user in the same Zoom account. User’s recording files will move to a permanent deletion state where the files will permanently delete within 24 hours.

After this is completed, these files can’t be recovered.
