Recording a video greeting or videomail

Phone users can record a video greeting that is played for missed inbound calls from other Zoom Phone users in the same account. These users can then leave a videomail message that can be played back.

Prerequisites for recording a video greeting or videomail

  • Zoom desktop client for Windows, macOS, or Linux, 5.5.0 or higher
  • Zoom mobile app for iOS or Android, 5.9.0 or higher
  • Zoom Phone license
  • Policy setting for voicemail and videomail enabled at the account/site and user level by your admin
    Note: The videomail option is disabled by default. This needs to be enabled for users to record a video greeting, or leave videomail for other phone users in the account.

How to record a video greeting

Desktop client

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Click your profile picture then click Settings.
  3. Click the Phone tab.
  4. Scroll down to the Video Greeting section
  5. If there isn't an existing video greeting, click Record. If there's an existing video greeting, click View Video Greeting.
  6. Click one of these options:
    • If there isn't an existing video greeting:
      • Close: Close the video greeting window.
      • Record: Start recording a video greeting. Click Stop Recording to stop and save the recording.
    • If there's an existing video greeting:
      • Discard: Delete the existing video greeting.
      • Done: Close the video greeting window.
      • Retake: Start recording a new video greeting which will replace the existing one. Click Stop Recording to stop and save the recording.

Mobile app

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  2. Tap the Settings tab.
  3. Tap Phone.
  4. Scroll down to the VIDEO GREETING section
  5. If there isn't an existing video greeting, tap Record. If there's an existing video greeting, tap View Video Greeting.
  6. Click one of these options:
    • If there isn't an existing video greeting:
      • Close: Close the video greeting page.
      • Record: Start recording a video greeting. Tap Stop Recording to stop and save the recording.
      • Switch: Switch between your mobile device's front-facing or back-facing camera.
    • If there's an existing video greeting:
      • Discard: Delete the existing video greeting.
      • Done: Close the video greeting window.
      • Retake: Start recording a new video greeting which will replace the existing one. Tap Stop Recording to stop and save the recording.

How to record a videomail

  1. Call another phone user in the same account.
  2. If the call is routed to their videomail, their video greeting will play. Click or tap Record Videomail to leave a videomail for the phone user. 
    Notes:
    • If the you don't choose any of the options, the voicemail recording will start automatically after a 5 second wait.
    • You can also click Record Voicemail to leave a regular audio message for the phone user.
    • You can't leave a videomail if you're currently in a Zoom meeting while making the call.
