Using Zoom for Microsoft Teams

This integration enables Microsoft Teams users to initiate and take advantage of Zoom Team Chat, Zoom Meetings, and Zoom Phone features within Teams. The integration appears in Microsoft Teams as:
- A Zoom tab
- A Zoom Chat
- A Zoom Phone tab
- A Zoom Meetings bot
Note: Zoom for Microsoft Teams is not supported for Microsoft Teams in Microsoft 365 Government GCC High and DoD.

Prerequisites for Microsoft Teams
- A Microsoft Teams account
- Zoom account with a Zoom Phone plan (Zoom Phone integration)
- Zoom email account, SSO, or Google login
- Pre-approval of the Microsoft Teams integration in the Zoom App Marketplace
- Admins must have configured phone numbers in either the Azure Active Directory or Zoom Phone system
How to add the Microsoft Teams integration from the Zoom Marketplace
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace with your Zoom account.
- In the top right of your screen, enter Microsoft Teams in the search box to find the app.
- In your search results, find the Microsoft Teams app and click it.
- Next to the Microsoft Teams app, click add.
- Confirm the permissions the app requires, then click Authorize.
You will be redirected to your Microsoft Teams account. - In your Microsoft Teams account, click Add and select Add to a team.
- Enter the name of the channel or team to use for the Zoom Meetings integration.
- Click Set up a bot.
The integration will direct you to the channel. - Follow the steps to complete the integration for your Microsoft Teams account.
How to configure Microsoft Teams on the Zoom App Marketplace
The following steps are applicable to all of the integration features:
Allow app to read Outlook contacts list
For Microsoft Teams members to use the app to access their Outlook contacts list, Microsoft Teams administrators must configure the permissions on their behalf.
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace as your Zoom account administrator.
- Click Manage.
- Select the Microsoft Teams app and choose Configure.
The Zoom Marketplace will display the permissions page.
Note: If Zoom does not display the permissions page, you need to remove and re-add the Microsoft Teams app. - Click Authorize.
- Log in to your Microsoft Teams account.
- Select Consent on behalf of your organization accept these permissions.
Enable or disable Zoom Phone for Microsoft Teams
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace as your Zoom account administrator.
- Click Manage.
- Select the Microsoft Teams app and choose Configure.
The Zoom Marketplace will display the permissions page.
Note: If Zoom does not display the permissions page, you need to remove and add the Microsoft Teams app. - Click Enable.
- Log in to your Microsoft Teams account.
- Select Consent on behalf of your organization.
- Click the toggle next to Phone to turn the setting on or off.
- Click Enable or Disable to confirm the changes.
Note: Disabling Zoom Phone for Microsoft Teams does not remove the Zoom Phone option from the user interface.
Enable or disable Zoom Whiteboard for Microsoft Teams
Whiteboard is enabled by default but can be toggled on or off to enable or disable the feature.
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace as your Zoom account administrator.
- Click Manage.
- Select the Microsoft Teams app and choose Configure.
The Zoom Marketplace will display the permissions page.
Note: If Zoom does not display the permissions page, you need to remove and add the Microsoft Teams app. - Click Enable.
- Log in to your Microsoft Teams account.
- Select Consent on behalf of your organization.
- Click the toggle next to Whiteboard to turn the setting on or off.
- Click Enable or Disable to confirm the changes.
How to configure the integration on Microsoft Teams
The following steps are applicable to all of the integration features:
- Log in to Microsoft Teams as an administrator.
- Access Teams Apps then Manage apps.
- Search for Zoom.
- Set the Zoom app to Allowed.
- Access Permission policies.
- Set Third-party apps to Allow all apps.
How to configure Zoom Phone authorizations
Zoom web portal
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit account settings.
- In the navigation menu, click Account Management then Account Settings.
- Click the Zoom Phone tab.
- Click the Automatically Call From 3rd Party Apps toggle to enable or disable it.
Microsoft Teams
- Navigate to the Zoom Phone tab.
- Sign in and grant access to Zoom and Teams account.
- Select the Consent on behalf of your organization check box.
Note: If this is not checked, the configuration must be completed from the Microsoft Teams admin center.
Configure permissions in the Microsoft Teams admin center
This is necessary if Consent on behalf of your organization was not enabled when managing permissions in the previous section.
- Sign in to the Microsoft Teams admin center as your Microsoft account administrator.
- Click Teams apps, then Manage apps.
- Search for Zoom.
- Click Zoom
- Select the Permissions tab.
- Click Review permissions.

Disable the Teams Video icon
You can disable the native Teams video icon by following the instructions in this article.
Add the integration for all users
To Add the integration for all users on your account, you can use the MS Graph API. For more information, see this article.
Add and pin Zoom to the Teams toolbar
You can pin the Zoom app to the left toolbar so that the Zoom app is visible to all users when they sign in.
- Navigate to Setup policies then Add apps.
- Search for Zoom in the search textbox.
- Select it to pin.
You have the ability to specify this globally or for specific users/groups in your organization. This utilizes the app setup policy within Teams. For more information, see this article.
How to use the Microsoft Teams integration
Use the Zoom tab
You can use the Zoom tab to schedule or start a Zoom meeting with anyone else in your organization who also has the Zoom app added. For information about starting and scheduling Zoom meetings, see Scheduling meetings.
On the left of the Teams page, click the Zoom icon and select one of the following tabs:
- Chat: Access a command to start/join a meeting or log out from Zoom.
- Meetings: Start or schedule Zoom meetings.
- Phone: Initiate calls with participants in 1:1 or group chat.
- About: View details of the Zoom integration with Microsoft Teams.
Use Zoom Chat
Zoom Chat allows you access to all features of the integration:
- Start: Start an instant meeting.
- Join: Join a meeting with a meeting ID.
- Help: Show all bot commands.
- Logout: Log out from Zoom on all your Teams' channels.
Use the Zoom Phone tab
You can initiate a phone call with Teams contacts directly in MS Teams without needing to manually enter phone numbers in the Zoom client.
Call a phone number
- On the top of the page, click the Phone tab.
The Zoom Phone dial pad will display. - On the dial pad, enter a contact’s name to search for a contact or enter a phone number directly.
- Click the call button
to initiate a call.
Access your voicemails
- From the Phone tab, click the VOICEMAIL tab.
- Hover over a voicemail and click the play voicemail icon
to play your voicemail.
- (Optional) Click the phone icon
to return the call of the caller.
- (Optional) Click the more icon
to copy the phone number.
Use SMS
- From the Phone tab, click the SMS tab.
- Click the new SMS icon
.
- On the top of the page, enter a name from your directory or a phone number.
- At the bottom of the page, type your text message, and press the Enter key on your keyboard.
- (Optional) Click the file icon
to share a file in your message.
Access your call history
- From the Phone tab, click the HISTORY tab.
The list of your call history will be displayed under All History by default. - Identify the phone number you interacted with as well as the date and time of the interaction.
- Click the All History filter, then select Missed to view missed calls only or Recording to view recorded calls only.
- (Optional) Click the phone icon
to call the user.
- (Optional) Click the more icon
to copy the phone number.
Sign out of the integration
- From the Phone tab, click the profile icon.
- Click Sign Out.
- In the dialog box, click Yes.
Use the Zoom Meetings bot
Log out of the Zoom Meetings integration
- Access a channel with the Zoom Meetings bot.
- Type @Zoom logout.
You will be logged out from your Zoom account.
List all commands
- Type @Zoom.
- Select the Zoom Meetings Bot.
- Type help to see all commands at any time.
Start an instant meeting
- To start an instant meeting, type @Zoom.
- Select Zoom Meetings and type start.
- Select Click Here to Join.
Zoom opens a link in your browser and the Zoom application.
Start an instant meeting with a specific topic
- Type @Zoom.
- Select Zoom Meetings.
- Type start followed by the desired topic name.
- Select Click Here to Join.
Zoom opens a link in your browser and the Zoom application.
Join a Meeting
- Type @Zoom.
- Select the Zoom Meetings bot and type join followed by the Meeting ID.
- Select Click Here to Join.
Zoom opens a link in your browser and the Zoom application.
Meeting summary and recording link
When the meeting ends, the BOT posts a meeting summary and a recording link (if the meeting is recorded in the cloud).
Use Zoom Whiteboard
To share a Zoom Whiteboard in Teams:
- Open a chat or channel.
- Below the message box, click the ellipsis icon
and search for Zoom app.
You can also find the Zoom icon in the Recent section. - Click the Zoom icon
.
- In the Zoom dialog box, click Invite.
- Click Share a Whiteboard.
Note: You can also paste a Zoom Whiteboard link into into the chat or channel. The link will unfurl to display the whiteboard title and a preview of it.
Viewing whiteboard notifications in Teams:
- If a whiteboard is shared with users outside of Teams chats or channels, the users will receive a notification in Teams. To view the notification, the users can click the Zoom channel.
- If a user requests access to a whiteboard that has been shared with others, a notification for the whiteboard owner will be created in Teams. The whiteboard owner can click the Zoom channel, and then grant access to the whiteboard from the notification options.
Note: To use this feature, Zoom Whiteboards must be enabled on your account.
How to remove Zoom for Microsoft Teams
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace as the account administrator.
- In the top right of the page, click Manage.
- In the navigation menu, click Added Apps.
- Next to the Microsoft Teams app, click Remove.
- Confirm the dialogue and click Remove.
Security and privacy
This app accesses and uses the following information from Zoom:
- Upcoming meeting: Start time, topic, meeting Id, participant, host list.
- Meeting details for each meeting: meeting ID, topic, start time, duration, meeting password, join link, meeting invitation with join instructions.
- Meeting settings: video, audio, password, Enable join before host, Mute participants upon entry, Personal Meeting ID, Enable waiting room, Only authenticated users can join, Recording option, Enable additional data center regions for this meeting.
- Start a meeting: join link, meeting Id, topic, password.
- Schedule meeting message: meeting ID, topic, start time, duration, meeting password, join link.
- User detail: first name, last name, user type, PMI.
- Meeting summary: topic, meeting Id, start time, meeting length.
- Recording detail: topic, password, recording link.
