Understanding hosts/special role Zoom Events client versions

Last Updated:

Keeping the client version up-to-date for the Zoom desktop client and Zoom mobile app ensures that certain features are available for an optimal event experience and allow for updated security settings. Additionally, this will also align Zoom features and functionality more so they can be used during meeting and webinar events.

This article covers:

Prerequisites for Zoom Events

Host

  • Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Education account
  • Stripe or PayPal Business account is required to create paid events
  • Zoom Events license

Special-role users

  • Zoom account

How to understand the minimum client version

The version of the Zoom client that is needed for Zoom Events depends on the features that you want to access and use. The latest version of the Zoom desktop client and mobile app will include the most recent updates and features.

Notes:

  • There is a dependency with Windows' Webview package for Windows platform; while version 5.7.6 does support Zoom Events, it may cause a blank lobby experience for attendees.
  • For host, alternative host, panelist, speaker, and sponsor access to the latest Zoom Events and Webinar features, we strongly recommend updating to the latest version of the Zoom desktop client/mobile application to receive the latest features and the most controls on the experience.
