Making Zoom Events video calls

Last Updated:

In addition to chatting with other event attendees during an event, you can also communicate with your connections via video calls during and post-event.

This article covers:

Prerequisites for initiating Zoom Events video calls

Note: For access to the latest Zoom Events and Webinar features, we strongly recommend hosts to update to the latest version of the Zoom desktop client/mobile application.

How to initiate video calls from 1:1 chat

To initiate a video call from a 1:1 chat while you are in an event:

  1. Sign in to Zoom Events.
  2. Go to your 1:1 chat with a user you are already connected with.
  3. Click on the camera icon  in the bottom left of the chat box.
Note: If you initiate the call from a web browser and you have the desktop or mobile Zoom client installed, the client will open and you will make the video call from the Zoom client. If you do not have the desktop or mobile Zoom client installed, you will be prompted to install the client. If you decline to install the client, you will proceed to make the video call from the web browser.

How to schedule a video call

You can schedule video calls with Zoom Events users you are already connected with so that video calls can be coordinated and are not always made ad hoc.

Schedule video calls in a 1:1 chat

  1. Sign in to Zoom Events.
  2. Go to your 1:1 chat with a user you are already connected with.
  3. At the bottom of the chat window, click the calendar icon .
    A calendar will appear.
  4. In the calendar, select the date and time you want to schedule the video call.
  5. In the lower-right corner of the calendar, click the check mark icon .
The calendar will close and the user's profile card will appear; a calendar icon will show in the profile card signifying that a video call has been scheduled.
Note: The calendar icon does not mean the recipient has accepted the scheduled request, it only means you have scheduled a video call with the user.

The recipient will receive an invitation email, from where they can accept or reject the video call invitation. If the invitee rejects the video call that you scheduled, the scheduled call will be removed from the inviter's calendar.
