Release notes for Zoom PWA

New and enhanced features

  • Meeting/webinar features
    • Sign language interpretation
      This allows the meeting host to assign participants as sign language interpreters, who can interpret one language into sign language in real-time. The host can assign interpreters when scheduling or during the meeting. These interpreters are displayed in a dedicated window, which can be repositioned and resized by the attendee choosing to view sign language interpretation. The host must be a Licensed user on a Business, Education, or Enterprise account, or Pro account with the Zoom Webinars add-on plan.

      Users can invite common area phone to a meeting from the contact list.
    • One-time password requirement for suspicious logins- Win, Mac, Appliances, ZP appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc
      When Zoom Rooms administrators sign in to a Zoom Room using their work email and password, they may be asked to enter a one-time password, sent to their account email, when Zoom detects a suspicious login. A login may be considered suspicious if it originates from a different country or device, among other factors.  After entering the one-time password, the sign in will succeed.
    • Standalone Whiteboard Zoom Rooms for Touch - Win, Appliances
      Standalone Whiteboard Zoom Rooms provide users with a dedicated whiteboard device that can create and edit existing whiteboards.

      Admins can now configure a Zoom Room or Digital Signage Only Room to switch to an HDMI input when Digital Signage is playing. This allows admins to display HDMI content in place of a playlist or other content uploaded to Zoom. 
    • Bring your own device with DTEN D7 - Win
      Bring your own device (BYOD) mode can be entered or exited from the Zoom Rooms interface if you are using a DTEN D7 device.
    • Multi-language calendar parsing for Microsoft Teams meetings and Google Meet - Win, Mac, Appliances, iPad zr
    • Scheduling meetings on Google calendar - Win, Mac, Appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc
      Calendar events will only appear on the resource calendar and not the service calendar when a user schedules a meeting and has full access to the calendar resource.

      Users will be able to share information on a whiteboard and collaborate with others via Zoom Rooms
    • Support for Yealink Roomcast Digital Signage - Appliances
    • Audio Framing function on DTEN devices - Appliances
      Audio Framing will suppress audio when the user is not present in a preset camera area (60 degrees angle scope). This is supported on DTEN ME, DTEN ME PRO, and DTEN ON devices.
    • Support for 3rd generation Amazon Fire TV Cube - Appliances

      Users can export their whiteboards via email or chat.
    • Display favorites in the contact list - iPad zr

      If enabled by account admins and added to their profile by either the user directly or through SAML mapping, a user’s gender pronouns are displayed in their contact card and as part of their display name in meetings and webinars.
    • Joining personal meetings (PMI) - Win zrc, Web zrc
      Users can populate their “location” field with their PMI and allow others to join that individual’s personal meeting ID if listed.
  • In-meeting features
    • Thumbnail View Enhancements - Win, Mac, Appliances, ZP appliances, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc, Web zrc
      The Thumbnail view can be used in Zoom Rooms with multiple screens, and the view can be configured to display the film strip above or below the active speaker (this does not apply to Zoom Rooms for Touch). 
    • Zoom Translated Captions - Win, Mac, Appliances, ZP appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc, Web zrc
      Zoom Rooms in meetings where the host has a Zoom Translated License will be able to pick between multiple closed captioning channels such as CART, Live Transcription, and Live Transcription translations.
    • Support up to 25 custom languages for interpretations - Win, Mac, Appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc
      The number of custom language interpretations allowed for a scheduled meeting has been upgraded to 25. 
    • Support for meeting polls - Win, Mac, Appliances, ZP appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc
      Polls can be launched during a meeting, allowing participants to provide responses. 
    • Enhancements to Smart Gallery - Win, Mac
      Zoom AI detection has been improved to remove participant duplication when people stand behind each other at the beginning of a meeting. 
    • Meeting assistant updates - Win, Mac, Appliances, ZP appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc, Web zrc
      Meetings assistants are displayed as participants in meetings they join. Assistants can change the name displayed in the participants menu when joining.

      Zoom Room users can send and receive reactions in meetings and webinars. 
    • Closed captioning notification - Win, Mac, Appliances, iPad zr
      If saving transcripts is disabled, participants will not receive the following notification in a meeting: “A participant has enabled Closed Captioning [Who can see this transcript]?”
    • High Fidelity Audio mode - Win, Mac, Appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc, Web zrc
      Zoom Rooms has added a High Fidelity Audio option in the client to allow for professional audio transmission in music education and performance applications. Professional audio interface, microphone, and headphones are recommended.
    • Share screen and audio to all Breakout Rooms - Win, Mac, Appliances, ZP appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc, Web zrc
      When sharing screen in the main session, the host or co-host can share their screen to all active Breakout Rooms. Computer audio and video audio from a screen share can also be shared. 
    • Support for multi-focus camera control mode on Poly R30 USB cameras - Win, Mac
      Participants can use multi-focus mode with Poly R30 USB cameras in Zoom Rooms, so that meeting remote participants can see people in the conference room more clearly.
    • Support for Smart Gallery in E2EE meetings  - Win, Mac, Appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc
    • Smart Gallery on Logitech Rally Bar and Rally Bar Mini - Appliances
      Smart Gallery view on a Logitech Rally Bar or Rally Bar Mini can support up to five video streams.

      Simplified process for meeting attendees to report abuse to Zoom.

      Users with portrait appliances, such as Neat Frame, can use portrait view (instead of landscape view) for active speakers in 1 to 1 meetings. 
    • Fixed avatar in-meeting in shared Zoom Rooms - iPad zr
      If the room does not have a profile avatar, a default one will be displayed.
    • Additional chat settings - Win zrc, Web zrc
      Meeting and Webinar hosts can tap the Security button on the Zoom Rooms user interface to set the chat privileges for participants, attendees and panelists.
    • Live streaming notification - Win zrc, Web zrc
      All attendees will see a notification when the meeting or webinar host starts a live stream. Attendees who join the session after the live stream has started will be notified when they enter.
    • Improvements to non-vebal feedback - Web zrc
      Users who raise their hand in a meeting will have their feedback more prominently displayed in their participant window on the Zoom Room display.
  • Management features
    • Microsoft Teams Meetings join preference - Win, Mac, Appliances, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc, Web zrc
      When administrators enable Support 3rd party conferencing dial-in for Zoom Rooms and the Support Microsoft Teams web client meeting on Zoom Rooms option on the web portal, they can optionally elect to use Microsoft Teams Cloud Video Interop (CVI) information, if present, to join the meeting via SIP. If no Microsoft Teams Cloud Video Interop (CVI) information is present, Direct Guest Join will be used to join the meeting.  
    • List Reservation Only Rooms on the Zoom Rooms page - Win, Mac, Appliances, iPad zr
      Reservation Only Rooms will show up in both Workspace and Zoom Rooms hierarchy. Reservation Only Rooms can easily be toggled to Scheduling Display Only Rooms.
    • Upgrade feedback - Win
      When a Zoom Room is updating to a new version, the following feedback will appear: downloading, waiting for available upgrade window, installing.
    • Idle Time-out power saving mode - Win, Mac, Appliances, iPad zr
      Administrators can use Idle Time-out mode to automatically turn off Zoom Room displays and dim controllers after a period of inactivity. This setting is mutually exclusive with scheduling periods for devices to enter power saving mode. 
    • Passcode failure alerts - Win, Mac, Appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc, Web zrc
      Zoom administrators are notified via webhook, Dashboard, and email when someone in a Zoom Room has failed to enter the correct passcode three times within a 24 hour period. Alerts are automatically cleared at the beginning of the next day. 
    • Cloud recording limit - Win, Mac, Appliances, ZP appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc, Web zrc
      If a participant tries to record a meeting after the cloud recording storage limit is reached, the Zoom Room will display a message explaining why the meeting can't be recorded. 
    • Report Issue to IT - Appliances
      Administrators can allow Zoom Room users to report an issue to their IT department.
    • Hide caller ID - Win zrc, Web zrc
      Administrators can choose to hide the outbound caller ID for their Zoom Rooms by configuring their settings for Zoom Phone.
    • Disable in-meeting chat - Win zrc, Web zrc
      Administrators can disable the display of in-meeting chat for Zoom Rooms.
  • Scheduling display features 
    • User interface updates - Android ZRC, iOS ZRC
      The Scheduling Display user interface (UI) has been updated to provide a more consistent experience. The new UI aligns with the Zoom desktop and mobile clients, matches Zoom’s current branding, and provides an optimized information architecture to better meet user needs. The font size has been increased and color palette updated. Light and dark mode have also been added.  
  • Controller features

      Zoom Rooms users can view all in-meeting chat emojis.
    • AirPlay BLE broadcasting (Screen Mirroring) from Apple devices - Android zrc
      Users must complete a permission step to enable Bluetooth when using AirPlay Screen Mirroring.
    • Camera switching enhancement - Win zrc, Web zrc
      Switching cameras in a room with only two cameras will carry out the switch without prompting the user to select the camera first.
    • User interface updates - Win zrc, Web zrc

  • Zoom for Home features
    • Transfer meetings to Personal Zoom Rooms - Win, Mac, Appliances, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc, Web zrc
      Users attending an ongoing meeting with their mobile or desktop client can transfer the meeting to their Personal Zoom Room. The ongoing meeting will appear on the touch screen or controller meeting list, along with the Switch button. 
    • User presence status options - Win, Mac, Appliances, ZP appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc, Win zrc, Web zrc
      Personal Zoom Room users can set their status to “busy”, in addition to “available”, “away”, and “do not disturb”. If contacts set their status to “busy” that status will be displayed when viewing the contact list. 
    • Zoom Phone call history - Mac, Appliances, iPad zr, iOS zrc, Android zrc
      Call history saves a record of received, outgoing, and missed calls. Users can view the caller name, number, and call duration with timestamps.
    • Shared lines - Win
      The Shared Lines feature allows multiple users to share one extension number for outgoing calls.

      Gives the picture display a softer focus and enhances digital appearance in real-time when enabled.
    • User interface enhancements for Personal Zoom Room TV devices - Appliances
      Improved user interface navigation with Zoom for TV app.

      Users can listen to voicemails on Zoom Phone appliances without download permissions.

      Administrators can allow users to forward voicemails to another Zoom Phone user’s extension. 
    • Scheduled Restart for Zoom Phone Appliances - ZP appliances
      Administrators can schedule a weekly restart for Zoom Phone Appliances in the Zoom Web Portal. This will restart the Zoom Phone application and the vendor based operating system (firmware).
    • Message waiting indicator for Shared Line Group and Shared line Appearance - ZP appliances
      Members of Shared Line Groups and Shared Line Appearances will receive message waiting indicators. A group member can process the message, which will remove the indicator. 
    • 911 location tracking - ZP appliances
      Added support for location tracking at network switchport level.
    • QR code sign in as common area without binding calendar - ZP appliances
    • Support opt in/out for Shared Line Groups - ZP appliances
      Users can opt in or out of all shared line groups.
    • Support for Yealink ExP50 expansion module for MP58 - ZP appliances

      Users can configure the settings for Call Forwarding and Call Handling from their Zoom phone device.
